Dance film distributor TenduTV is bringing The Dutch National Ballet's Don Quichot, choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky, to iTunes and other digital outlets on July 5th. The film was shot in September 2010 and directed by Adrienne Liron and Jeff Tudor of 3 Minutes West who also filmed the Hans van Manen Festival:

"Don Quichot is a comic ballet, loosely based on Cervantes' novel. This production stars Anna Tsygankova and Matthew Golding…Also featured are actors Peter de Jong and Karel de Rooij, a well-known theatrical double-act (Mini and Maxi) in the Netherlands, who play the roles of Don Quichot and Sancho Panza. Ludwig Minkus' musical score is recorded live by the Holland Symfonia and the scenic design, by renowned French designer Jérôme Kaplan, beautifully references the story's era."

Choreographer Alexei Ratmansky had this to say about his production:

"We simply don't know what was original…I've made use of all the information I've been able to find, all the versions I know, and all the famous dances and steps traditionally associated with the ballet. And using that as the basis, I make my own decisions, with great respect for tradition."
