Trisha Brown Dance Company Restages Roof Piece

June 9, 2011: Trisha Brown, Roof Piece, 1971/2011, on and around The High Line from 16 Miles of String

The Trisha Brown Dance Company restaged one of her early works, Roof Piece, over the weekend in New York City as part of the High Line’s public art program:

“In this work, ten dancers stationed on rooftops mimic each other’s movements in an improvised and mutable series of movements. The piece will be recreated on roofs surrounding the southern end of the High Line, so that park visitors will be encircled by the performance as it unfolds.”

16 Miles of String has photographs in addition to the above video.

Babette Mangolte describes her famous photo, as well as her film documentation, of the original performance of Roof Piece staged in 1971.
